Bird Watching in Whistler
The
Whistler Resort and Club is ideally located
for birding in the Whistler Valley and surrounding areas. Our
complimentary summer amenities include canoes for Nita Lake and
bicycles for touring the Valley Trail. An easy walk away is Sproat
Mountain, where hiking trails can take you up the mountain on
opposite side of the Valley from Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains,
offering great views of both.
Nita
Lake is a small lake that is just off our back yard. Take our
canoes for a relaxing paddle around the lake and keep you eyes
open for more than just the views of Whistler's south face! The
Valley Trail is a paved path that leads from the southern end
of Whistler Valley, past the Creekside and the Whistler Resort
and Club, on to the Village where it joins the Lost Lake park
trail system and circles the Whistler Valley Golf Course, and
then continues to Alpine Meadows and Green Lake. You can spend
a few days exploring the entire trail!
Fourty
four species were counted in this years Christmas
Bird Count, conducted by Bird
Studies Canada and the Whistler
Naturalists. Stellar Jays, Whiski Jacks, Hummingbirds, Herons,
Grouse, and Geese are all commonly seen within Whistler Valley
itself. The Bald Eagles of Brackendale are only a 30 minute drive
south of the Creekside, and Pemberton/Mount Currie are approximately
30 minutes north.
